Aurigane – Eye Wear Manufacture

Eyewear: Aurigane choses Vertimag for precise and safe automated storage

The company, specialized in the production, trade and sale of sunglasses, eyeglasses and reading glasses, switches to automated storage to better organize the storage of finished products and accessories.

Founded in Vicenza in 1992, Aurigane immediately specialized in high-precision mechanics applied to the world of eyewear, producing components and finished products for the most important brands in the sector.

Today this important Italian company is active on the market with 3 main brands dedicated to the prevention, care and well-being of eyesight.

Under the Utilissimi brand, it supplies around 6,000 pharmacies in Italy and online, with reading glasses and sunglasses for the whole family.

The Emblema brand, on the other hand, designs and manufactures specific eyewear for motorcyclists.

Finally, through the Pleyers brand, Aurigane produces sunglasses and eyeglasses for all types of sports operating both online and in three stores in Vicenza, Turin and Milan.

Reorganized spaces to better manage finished product and accessories

Aurigane has decided to undertake a major investment in automation with the aim of guaranteeing its customers an increasingly efficient and precise service.

To achieve this path, it turned to Ferretto Spa, which guided and accompanied the company from a management of the storage of products on traditional shelving to an automated system with 3 Vertimag vertical warehouses.

Process automation for faster and more accurate picking

This solution has allowed Aurigane to better manage the storage of glasses and accessories such as prescription lenses and products for well-being and personal care, diversifying them within the various
drawers by color, gradation and size.

Thanks to the single internal bay supplied to the warehouses, the operators have significantly speeded up order preparation activities, always working in perfect ergonomics and safety.

The laser pointer, which indicates the product to be picked up with a light signal, has also made operations easier and has significantly reduced errors during picking.

With Vertimag recovered space for other business activities

By taking advantage of the space in height, Aurigane has gained useful surface area to be used for other activities. In the only 36 square meters occupied by the warehouses, the company is able, in fact, to store
products for an area of 384 square meters. The closed structure of the 3 plants and the organization of the material within the total 126 drawers guaranteed cleanliness, order and protection of the goods.
